Dinner Lecture
"What’s Coming Down the Line?
The Railroad in the American Mind”Thursday, November 15, 2012
at Lock 16 Center in LaSalle
"The Railroad is more than a transportation system in American culture. It not only helped transform the nation economically, but also became a potent symbol, reflected in advertising, children's literature, music and film. Come take a ride ‘down the line’ and visit the many ways that the railroad reflected American culture." This presentation will be given by Mike Matejka, downstate vice-president of the Illinois Labor History Society, Governmental Affairs director for the Great Plains Laborers District Council and editor of the Grand Prairie Union News. Cocktails start at 5:30PM with dinner beginning at 6PM.
