Overall Summary
To promote the product of Heritage Corridor Destinations: The First Hundred Miles of Route 66; the historic I&M Canal Towns; and the Starved Rock State Park area. Heritage Corridor Destinations (HCD) is both a state and local certified destination marketing agency promoting the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle, Putnam, Bureau, and Livingston as a visitor destination. The target markets include tour groups for motor coaches, various group segments, and leisure travel market segments with a primary responsibility to increase overnight stays at hotels within the service area. The Marketing Coordinator supports the organization’s marketing efforts by creating compelling visual materials that inspire travel, elevate brand awareness, and support consumer, trade, and media engagement. This position is involved in the production of publications, electronic communication, video and social media assets, project management, and extensive graphic design for print/copy. Extensive work in the region is essential to the success of this position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Visual Design – Graphic and Video
· Specializes in the design and production of print collateral – brochures, rack cards, flyers, sell sheets, posters – and contributes to multimedia and experiential marketing initiatives including video projects and tradeshow activations.
· Design, layout, and produce print-ready materials.
· Maintain brand consistency across all collateral while adapting visual styles for specific campaigns and audiences/partners.
· Prepare and package production files for vendors, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.
· Assist in planning, storyboarding and producing short-form and long-form video content that highlights destination/partner assets, events, and partner offerings.
· Edit and format video footage for social media, presentations tradeshows and digital marketing campaigns.
· Collaborate with team members and partners to ensure video content aligns with brand and campaign strategy.
Content Writing and Communications
· Write clear, engaging press releases
· Update website content, ensuring accuracy, and alignment with brand.
· Create speeches, talking points, and presentation scripts, as needed.
· Develop written content for newsletters, visitor information, marketing reports, marketing reviews, media kits, and other communication materials.
· Collaborate with marketing team to ensure messaging consistency across all platforms.
· Implement branding strategies through content creation, with a focus on graphic design for digital and print marketing materials
· Facilitate effective internal communications
Project Coordination
· Create project schedules for staff members, update team in weekly meetings
· Assist leadership on the production of Heritage Corridor Destinations publications such as visitor’s guides, maps, print and online advertisements and individual fliers
· Monitor activities and projects with vendors
· Manage various marketing activations as related to campaigns and marketing efforts
· Track projects and media exposure

Cooperative Marketing Programs
· Work with leadership in securing cooperative marketing programs within the region
· Understanding of project specifications including marketing goals, community/partner requirements, measurements, and budgets; all in grant compliance
· Ongoing communication with partners in program needs and specifications
Field Work
· Attend community events to promote and communicate HCD services
· Assist in the coordination of events in the HCD service area
· Build the HCD knowledge base through complete utilization of the features of the HCD Contact Management database (Simpleview) and state websites
· Assist with planning FAM tours, planning with members and community partners
· Maintain a well-informed, working knowledge of the facilities, attractions, accommodations, and services
· Work with leadership to gather information in the preparation of budgets, marketing plans and reporting
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· BS/BA in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications or a related field, preferred.
· Professional experience in tourism/hospitality graphic design, communications, preferred.
· Proven communications skills; both written and verbal along with research.
· Understanding of the marketing planning process; consumer and/or tourism industry.
· Willingness to do extensive field work (in-region travel).
· Experience in videography, photography, and digital editing; audio production and editing – general understanding of media relations and digital media strategies.
· Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite (inDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and After Effects preferred) and other design/editing software programs
· Strong attention to detail, project management skills, and customer service attitude.
· Must have valid driver’s license, registration and auto insurance
· Ability to lift supplies and equipment (approximately up to 50 pounds) when needed.
· Sustain exposure to all weather conditions including rain, wind, snow, and extreme temperatures.
