Canal Corridor Association Dinner Lecture
Canal Corridor Association
Dinner Lecture
“Illinois in the War of 1812”
Thursday, October 18, 2012
at Lock 16 Center in LaSalle
Gillgum Ferguson will explore Illinois’s connection to the War of 1812 during the bicentennial of America’s forgotten war and discuss the link between the War of 1812 and the development of Illinois as a state. Ferguson has a lifelong interest in the history of his native state. While researching an article on an early pioneer of Pope County, Illinois, he discovered the lack of any book devoted to the experience of Illinois during the War of 1812, a crucial stage in the transition from territory status to statehood, and resolved to write the book himself. Cocktails start at 5:30PM with dinner beginning at 6PM.
The Canal Corridor Association’s dinner lecture costs $20 (plus tip and tax) for members and $25 (plus tip and tax) for non-members. Reservations are required. Please call 815-223-1851 to make your reservations.
