Assistant Director of Nursing Services - PV
Posted: 01/22/2023DescriptionIn absence of the Healthcare Services Director, The Healthcare Services Assistant Director assumes all job responsibilities of the Health Care Services Director and reports to the Executive Director
- Works to develop a competent, productive and satisfied staff by supervising, directly and through delegation, for assigned teams
- Includes overseeing staff hiring, training, evaluating and corrective actions
- Supervises team members to maintain an effective work force that benefits and supports a resident-centered focus on care
- Collaborates with the Healthcare Services Director to ensure all units are appropriately staffed and services are in line with State and Federal Regulations, level of care and census
- Maintains continuity of care by making rounds and providing information and guidance to the nursing unit,
- Receiving reports on the status of all residents and services
- Visiting residents
- Assisting nurses with new and unusual treatments
- Deciding whether or not to call physicians
- Coordinating services with other shifts
- Admitting and transferring patients
- Ensuring appropriate communication and follow-up to residents, family and visitors and taking other action deemed necessary at the time
- Completes Lifesteps Assessments
- Provides technical and clinical expertise to health care services including
- In depth knowledge of regulatory guidelines, procedures and eligibility factors
- Advise on current clinical procedures and protocols
- Promotes harmonious relationships with agencies, services and persons with whom they regularly work with, such as medical examiners, police, funeral directors, labs, pharmacies, x-ray, and home health by careful scheduling personal contacts
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters
- Ensures nursing services are provided in a manner consistent with good financial stewardship
- Works with Healthcare Services Director to develop nursing budgets
- Monitors’ nursing expenses, identifies trends and ensures operations are within budgeting guidelines
- Reviews census information
- Monitors quality service by enforcing proper procedures compliance in conjunction with legal requirements followed by assessing and evaluating for quality assurance
- Leadership role for Quality Improvement process
- Performs audits for Continuous Quality Improvement Committee
- Oversees notifications of IDPH within 24 hours when incident warrants it
- Assists in managing the reporting and investigations of abuse/neglect as requested by Abuse Coordinator
- Assists with survey process
- Ensure resident RAI (NDS/Raps and Care Plan) process is completed for each resident and that Care Plan conferences are carried out with resident and family
- Will play an integral role in infection control and may be designated as infection control coordinator.
- Will oversee admission process for new admits including oversight of the Clinical Nurse Liaison. The Clinical Nurse Liaison will report directly to the Health Care Services Assistant Director.
- Oversees the restorative program and is responsible for signing off on all related documentation.
- Primary clinical oversight for Hearthstone Assisted Living. Serves as clinical coordinator for medical professionals and also responds to resident/family inquiries
- Carrie rotates coverage to provide afterhours and weekend coverage
- Provide floor coverage as an RN Charge nurse during staffing shortages.
- Oversees weekly Medicare meetings and guides the rehab stays of short term Medicare residents.
- Provides back up for the Nurse Liaison position
- Conducts nursing competencies throughout the year to assure we are in compliance with Joint Commission, IDPH.
- Conducts all CPR courses for Pleasant View staff and other individuals as necessary
- Regularly attends Chamber events and other community events as an ambassador for Pleasant View.
Requirements- Current IL RN liscense
- At least two years healthcare supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least two years healthcare supervisory experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager, clients, customer and the general public
- Effective team building skills; organizations and staff development
- Ability to obtain cooperation and participation of individuals and groups
- Possess basic personal computer skills and ability to utilize various software programs
- Understanding of hospitality, first impressions and customer focus,
