    Reports to:  Director of Financial Aid

    Salary Range:  Nonexempt, based on education and experience, excellent benefits package

    Position Summary:  Under general supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, the Reconciliation and Compliance Specialist is primarily responsible for providing compliance oversight of the Department of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs.  This includes reviewing and updating departmental procedures to reflect current federal, state, and institutional regulations; reconciliation of grant, loan, scholarship, and military programs; training staff on the Colleague system, updating staff on changes in federal, state, and institutional regulations and performing compliance audits.  In addition, this position represents the financial aid department at various recruitment events.

    Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR an AAS degree with equivalent years of experience; three years of direct work with reconciliation and compliance; demonstrated proven ability to interpret federal, state, and institutional regulations; excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills; demonstrated effective use of the Microsoft Office Suite and a proprietary information system; availability to travel in order to comply with training requirements or provide outreach and recruitment support; and ability to work a flexible schedule required.  Ability to train employees on compliance issues; direct experience reconciling financial aid grants and/or loan programs; extensive knowledge of Federal Title IV and Illinois financial aid regulations; previous experience with Ellucian Colleague system; and professional work experience in a community college environment preferred.
