    Reports to:  Associate Director of Retention

    Salary Range:  Nonexempt, starting a$22.22 per hour based upon qualifications and experience; Grant Funded; excellent benefits package included

    Position Summary:  The role of an Adult Transition Specialist (ATS) in Career and Technical Education (CTE) is crucial for fostering student success. As a CTE position, the Adult Transition Specialist is dedicated to guiding students through the complexities of CTE programs as an adult student, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to thrive. The Adult Transition Specialist steps in as a mentor, helping students navigate through various CTE programs. Recruiting students into Integrated Education and Training (IET) is another critical responsibility of the Adult Transition Specialist. IET programs combine occupational skills training with adult education services, such as literacy and math instruction, to accelerate students' readiness for the workforce. The work of the ATS directly impacts student success by providing guidance, recruiting for innovative programs, and expanding educational opportunities. By supporting students in their educational and career journeys, the ATS helps bridge the gap between education and employment, ultimately contributing to a more skilled and prepared workforce.

    Qualifications:  Required: 1. Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred  2. Knowledge of IVCC district and support services  3. Familiarity with community college system
    Preferred: 1. Experience working with special populations (as defined by Perkins)  2. Experience in teaching within higher education or in industry roles related to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs  3. Experience with student recruitment and retention activities
