Overdose Awareness and Memory Walk
The sixth Overdose Awareness and Memory Walk is set for Saturday, Aug. 26, in Ottawa.The annual event will begin at 10 a.m. in Washington Square. Participants will travel south on La Salle Street across the Veterans Memorial Bridge and end in Allen Park.
Organizers said there will be many speakers in Allen Park sharing personal stories, resource tables providing handouts for treatment options and support, memorial boards with pictures of loved ones and, new to his year's event, a butterfly release. The event also will feature T-shirts available for purchase plus many other items supporting awareness.
Dig Doug's BBQ will have its truck selling sandwiches and drinks with proceeds designated for Buddy's Purpose. There also will be face painting, free water and music.
